Google makes changes to ecommerce site searches

February 11, 2015 by in category Google, News with 0 and 0

There have been rumours this week that Google has implemented yet another search engine algorithm change. It seems that the changes have been having an effect mostly on mobile and ecommerce related web sites, but Google has not actually confirmed that these changes have taken place.

There have been a few fluctuations in e-commerce keywords over the last few days, which have sparked the rumours of an algorithm change. One major change that has taken place appears to be that when you search for a brand keyword which is incorrectly spelled, Google treats the search as equally as the correctly spelled term. Previously, if you misspelled a brand name, you would mostly see small shops and price comparison sites as opposed to the brand’s official website or stockists.

All Google have stated on the matter is that they are continuously making tweaks to their algorithms in order to provide searchers with the most relevant answers to their queries. it seems like it’s too early to draw any conclusions about what these tweaks might mean for businesses, but it does underlines how important it is to stay up to date with all the changes taking place at Google so you can continue to stay ahead of the curve and in front of your competition in the search engine rankings.
