With mobile devices being more important in our lives than ever before, it seems like there are new models coming out every week, challenging web designed and online specialists to adapt. There has been yet another new device introduced to the market, as Samsung unveiled their new smartphone models at the beginning of this month.
The new S6 and S6 Edge feature strong processors, a sleek new design, and high resolution screens. Here are some of the most important things you need to know about the new phones.
No more plastic. Unlike previous Samsung models, which had a plastic construction, the new models are all metal and glass.
They are not waterproof. Most of us have accidentally broken or damaged a phone, and one of the main culprits is water. In recent years, waterproofed phones were welcomed by consumers and have been praised for their investment-saving abilities. However, these new models have lost their waterproofing in favour of a thinner and sleeker design – which could be a problem for some consumers.
Forget the cable. The average person has to replace their phone charger more than once a year, either due to loss or because the cable has been damaged in some way. Samsung have pledged to rectify this by bringing wireless charging to the mainstream, with the S6 being the first smartphone with this ability.
Say goodbye to Micro SD. One of the biggest changes to the phone series’ features is the loss of a Micro SD slot. Users can instead make use of a cloud storage system when they need extra room for their data. The phone models will be available in fixed storage variants, similar to Google and Apple’s phones, and offer a choice of 32, 64, or 128GB.
